are accepted only from tennis pros and/or coaches. 

 

    All Tennis Professionals and School Coaches in the Charleston Area were invited to submit applications on behalf of junior girls for the 2011 CALTA Junior Recognition Program.  The deadline for the 2011 program was October 31.  Nominations are now closed.  Funds will be awarded in November.

    In 2002, CALTA announced the establishment of the CALTA Junior Recognition Program, designed to promote junior girls' tennis in our area, support junior girls in their tennis activities, help those with limited opportunities, and reward exceptional achievement.  To date the Junior Recognition Program has disbursed 236 grants totaling over $65,000.

    Through monetary grants we recognize ability and help train it, we recognize effort and encourage it, we recognize achievement and reward it, and we recognize need and try to fill the gaps.  To date we have done everything from the basics of putting shoes on feet and racquets in hands to funding lessons and clinics, sending girls to tennis camps, and helping out with tournament and travel expenses for the very serious. 

    As in the past, recipients may use their grants for any tennis-related endeavor although specific recommendations would be helpful. 
    If you know of a deserving young women who you feel would benefit from our program, please use the nomination form on this website to nominate your candidate. The requirements are straightforward: The nominee must be a junior girl currently living in the Charleston Area.   Please read the form completely as you will need to have all the required information gathered before you begin.  Once you start the form, you must complete it and submit or you will lose your information.  Multiple submissions are encouraged.   Please note that a separate nomination form is required for each applicant.  If you are submitting multiple nominations, you may wish to prioritize them for us (i.e., 1st choice, 2nd choice, etc.).
