On the day before the big event, as they do every year, our Board members spent the day at Omar . . .

The room didn't look too exciting when  they arrived in the morning . . . .

but gradually it came to life . . .

time for a lunch break . . .

and then back to work!

By the end of the afternoon, the room was transformed into

 a symphony of silver and teal . . . almost ready for the big day . . . .

There were tables of all sizes . . . as many as 17 at one table!

It's a special bonus that at Omar we can have any size table needed for a team --

so all the members of a team can sit together !

On Tuesday morning the balloons were added and the last touch-ups done  . . .

As usual, the Flamingos in Division 1 did their special thing!

At every one of the 460 place settings, there was a gift bag

                                        containing a digital clip-on watch . . .

                                                                                            .

so now there's no need for our members to wear a good watch to the court . . .

or turn on the cell phone to check the time!!

The centerpiece of each table was a festively decorated pedestal cake plate

loaded with birthday cupcakes to celebrate CALTA's 10th . . .

The cupcakes would disappear quickly, but the cake plate was a gift for the team captain !

While most of the Board were busy setting up the tables, Pamela was working her usual magic, with the help of Dara's artistic touch, displaying the 120+ items donated for our fundraiser.

It was a grand display of the generosity of our members who organized so many contributions -- all donated for the benefit of CALTA's Junior Recognition Program !!   It has always been a most impressive collection but this year's truly was the best ever . . . . and once again included

the creations of our own Board members -- Lynn's famous quilt and Linda's scarves.

The room looked very festive when the  doors opened at 10:30 . . .

Many of the ladies arrived early to have enough time to review all the items on display for the fundraiser

Everyone stopped first at one of the welcome tables in the lobby

The "CALTA spirit "was very much in evidence . . .

    The ladies chatted . . .

bought tickets (all for the benefit of our Junior Recognition Program),

decided which bags to put their tickets into . . . it was a tough choice . . .

. . . and surveyed the buffet tables.

There was something for every taste  . . .

cold soups, a large salad bar, finger sandwiches, sliced meats/cheeses with rolls,

fruit with yogurt dip, pasta salad and very yummy desserts.  The buffet opened at 11:30.

While everyone was eating, Linda introduced the division coordinators

and thanked them for their hard work this year.

Nancy then announced the winners in each division.

The awards for the winners were "stained" glass and metal bag tags . . .  great for bragging rights!

As each team was announced, there was enthusiastic celebrating at the tables . . .

and during the luncheon  each winning team went to the "Winners' Circle" to have its photo taken (see below).

After the announcements of all the winners, we moved on to the fundraiser . . . no problem getting everyone's attention . . .

there was lots of anticipation in the room !

Pamela's speedy announcing and her efficient team of ticket pullers and  runners

did an incredible job of moving quickly through our 120+ items.

When the event ended at just after 1:30PM there were many happy winners . . . .

and even clean-up was festive !

. . . and the big winners are the young ladies who received awards from

CALTA's 2010 Junior Recognition Program.

The CALTA Board wishes to thank everyone who helped to make

this year's season and luncheon a great success.

See y'all on the courts again in August  for
