Our 2011 Luncheon was a 
"Springtime Celebration" 
 
  On the day before the big event,
our Board members spent the day at Omar . . .
                    

time for a lunch break in the Grill Room at Omar. . .

                          then back to work . . . . 
  

By the end of the afternoon, the room was transformed into CALTA's springtime celebration . . . .

above every table flowers, dragonflies, butterflies were floating . . .
   

   On every "winner" table was a special congratulations balloon.
                                                                                                             

There were tables of all sizes . . . as many as 22 at one table!   

It's a special bonus that at Omar we can have any size table needed for a team --  

so all the members of a team can sit together !

    At every one of the 425 place settings was a CALTA cosmetic bag --
                                                 handy for carrying all those small essentials in our tennis bags. 

                           

The centerpiece of each table, a collapsible basket, was a gift for the team captain --
very useful for carrying refreshments to CALTA matches . . .

    While most of the Board were busy setting up the team tables, Lynn was setting up the ticket sales table and Pamela was working her usual magic displaying the fundraiser items . . . 

The fundraiser tables were a grand display of the generosity of our members who organized so many contributions -- all donated for the benefit of CALTA's Junior Recognition Program !!  
As always, it was a most impressive collection . . . there were once again
the creations of our own Board members -- Lynn's famous quilt and Linda's scarves . . . 

         
and a collection of beautiful and unusual themed gift baskets . . . 
 even one for your favorite dog . . .

                  
and . . .  jewelry, many tennis items (clinics, lessons, bags, clothing), artwork, spa and facial treatments, restaurant and dessert certificates, a sailing cruise, a stay at a Kiawah Island cottage, a beautiful lamp, candlesticks, and on and on . . . over 120 items in all . . .

       With a few last minute adjustments  . . . . 
                        
  the room was ready for the next day . . . 

                                                                       and when the doors opened the next morning,

we were ready to party . . . 

                             and it all looked very festive . . .  
                           

 As usual, the Flamingos in Division 1 had done their special thing!

 Everyone stopped first at one of the welcome tables in the lobby . . .
many thanks to our welcome table hostesses.
 
  

Many of the ladies arrived early to have enough time to review all the items on display for the fundraiser.

      The "CALTA spirit "was very much in evidence . . .

    The ladies bought tickets (all for the benefit of our Junior Recognition Program).
     
 Everyone attending received a CALTA pen to write her name on her tickets . . .
     

and decided which bags to put her tickets into . . . it was a tough choice!

 When the buffet opened at 11:45, there was something for every taste --

two cold soups, a large salad bar, finger sandwiches, sliced meats and cheeses with rolls,
pasta salad, an impressive fruit selection with yogurt and chocolate dips,
and delicious desserts!

When everyone was finished eating, Linda introduced the division coordinators

and thanked them for their hard work this year. 

Each coordinator announced the winners in her division and
there was loud enthusiastic celebrating at the winner tables. 

The awards for the winners were "stained" glass and metal bag tags . . . 
great for bragging rights!

After the announcements of all the award winners, we moved on to the fundraiser. 
This year, for the first time, Pamela announced the winners by name
(instead of ticket number) -- much more fun.   It went almost TOO quickly!!

When the event ended at just after 1:00PM there were many happy winners . . . . 

     and the big winners are the young ladies who will receive awards from

CALTA's 2011 Junior Recognition Program.

The CALTA Board wishes to thank everyone who helped to make

this year's season and luncheon a great success.

See y'all on the courts again in August  for

the beginning of our 2011-2012 season . . .
